Making Your Website Mobile Ready

Smartphones and tablets have become exceedingly common in recent times. According to the Pew Internet and American Life Project, more than 50% of adult Americans use smartphones and 1/3 of them own a tablet. This just goes to show its proliferation.

Interestingly, Google quoted that approximately 67% of customers are inclined to buy products from a company that has a mobile ready website. For website owners (businesses), this is a clear indication that it’s high time they develop a mobile ready website, if they haven’t already!

The following tips will facilitate you in creating a spectacular mobile ready website:

Check Your Website’s Appearance

First and foremost, you have to check how your website would appear on a diversity of smartphones. There are several tools such as MobiReady, Screenfly, MobilePhoneEmulator, etc, to assist you in doing so.

First Things First

Generally, people access business websites to obtain basic information such as contact number, location, operating hours, etc. So, make sure to put it in the front, preferably on your homepage for added convenience.  Moreover, including a “click to call” option on every page will make it easier for the users to connect with you.

Restrict the Number and Size of Images

Having a lot of images on your website normally equates to a longer loading time (something you wouldn’t want). That is why it’s best to keep the number of images minimal, along with a smaller size (resolution) so as to ensure smooth browsing.

Reasonably Sized Icons

It already quite difficult to browse through a webpage on smartphones and you don’t want to make matters worse by including small icons. So, make sure the icons are big enough with adequate space between them, so that users don’t click the wrong one (a usual case with small icons).

Limit Content

The last thing users would want to see on their mobile screen is a verbose page. That’s why you should keep the content as concise as possible. Highlighting key phrases is another great way of doing so.

Navigation

Proper navigation is of utmost importance. It should be easy for the users to get from one page to another. Do not include a whole a lot of options, if not it would make navigation all the more difficult. That being said, if you have many options on your official page, just include those that are more relevant to the needs of mobile users.

All in all, mobile ready websites are becoming a necessity of all businesses and the above tips will ensure that you develop an attractive and effective one.
